The National Titles will be from January 8th to the 13th at Mornington Yacht Club on Victoria's spectacular Mornington Peninsula, situated on Port Phillip Bay. The waters off Mornington provide a fantastic variety of conditions and launching is out of a sheltered harbour, perfect for sailing a moth.

Ozzie nationals just around the corner!!!

One of the great unknown when organizing a championship is just many boats will turn up...fleet sizes at the nationals have been growing strongly in recent years.  A big fleet, a great buzz, lots of like- minded sailors, friends and families. Put that together with our great social program and a great place for a holiday, it should definately be an event not to be missed.

Assuming the wind behaves; we will be aiming for afternoon racing; with races sailed back-to-back in a variety of conditions. We will however ensure we have the flexibility to alter the format or timing if the winds don't behave. (Would that ever happen at a sailing championship?)

We're going all out to make this as fun a regatta off the water as on it. So it might be best not to plan too many quiet nights in front of the TV.

It's looking as though we are going to have some international entries, particularly from Europe so the regatta should see a good attendance.

Get your organisation skills fired up and entry in early

Winter sailing off Mornington (nationals venue)

When the call came to say "lets go sailing!" I was sitting comfortably on the couch, ducted heating firing on all cylinders, looked outside, driving rain and about 11 degrees.  Sometimes you wish moths weren't so addictive that you have to sail them all year round!

Good day though.  We have a pod of dolphins that spend a bit of time playing off the end of the pier, so we did a bit of foiling with them, which is always fun.  Amazing looking under the boat to see a couple of dolphins darting around.

Thanks for the footage Richie!

Pics From Mornington

I have set up a picasa account for Mornington mothies to share their photo's, so I put a link to the Aussie Nationals blog on the sidebar, figured most of the photo's will come from Mornington.  It can give anyone keen to come down in January a chance to see what it's like.

Also a quick thanks to Jemma for her great work on the new nationals logo!

2012 Aussie Nationals

We recently held the Victorian State Titles at Mornington and although the weather was not on our side for some of the weekend, it was a great success.  You can read the details in this article on sail world. http://www.sail-world.com/Australia/Victorian-Moth-State-Titles-2011/81389

Feel free to check out Morningtons's web site at http://www.morningtonyc.yachting.org.au/. Make sure you check out the 'weather cam' too, it give updates every five minutes through cameras on top of the club with all the wind data to go with it.  Comes in very handy.

We hope to see plenty of moths next January and will keep you posted via this blog with any updates relating to the Nationals.
